SCHWEPPES 1MW SOLAR PLANT COMMISSIONED
Distributed Power Africa recently commissioned a 1MW of solar to power manufacturing at the Schweppes Willowvale, Harare plant. This solar project marks the largest Commercial IPP Roof Mount Solar Plant in Sub-Saharan Africa outside South Africa.
Schweppes, have invested over US$2million on going with the aim to install solar power at 3 more of their operations in Zimbabwe by 2020. Their Harare solar plant alone is the largest single self-consumption solar plant in Zimbabwe. The Beverage manufacturer is saving 30% on blended power costs with this project by reducing use of diesel generators.
The adoption of solar power will aid the company in increasing its current supply of products to the market, through improved operational efficiencies in their processes. This strategy to go Green also has an environmental impact, with a huge contribution to the reduction of the country’s carbon footprint of 1,216kgs in carbon emissions saved.
